That is today's date. Exactly one year ago, I saw my boys. That's what I know them as, my boys, you might know them as the "Jonas Brothers". It's weird to think how much can change over a year. On December 28, 2006 I drove to the Shoppingtown mall in Syracuse. It wasn't even the good mall, either. It was a dump compared to the Carousel mall. Anyways, I drove to the Shoppingtown mall to see my boys. Sure, a lot of people where there but I guess 50 people would look like 150 if you were crowded around a stage. So, when it was time for the show the boys had two opening acts. Who were they, you may ask? The first performers were the Syracuse dance team. The ages of these girls ranged from 7-11, with two or three 13 year olds. What were they wearing? They were in vibrant rainbow jumpsuits with plastic shoulder straps. Hot, huh? Next, was Nuttin' But Strings. Now they, they were good. Anyways, my point is that in one year, one little year, they have gone from playing at dumpy malls with dancing teenies in rainbow jumpsuits as their opening act, to playing a 54 state sold out arena tour as one of the hottest teen sensations opening for the even hotter teen sensation, Miley Cyrus, more commonly known as Hannah Montana. Like I said, weird how things change, huh?
For sticking around for two years, hanging onto these boys by a thread, it may seem right now that I have gotten the short end of the stick. Sure, there have been one or two lucky moments throughout these two years, but seriously, is that all I deserve? This might sound selfish but please, don't take this the wrong way. I am so proud of these boys for accomplishing their dreams and achieving their goals. But, for supporting them, promoting them and most importantly loving them, for two years, a 'hello' is simply all I would ask for in return. Just to know that you see me and know I'm still here, still supporting, still promoting, still loving.. Maybe you'd give me a hug and thank me for all I've done, but in return I would say, "No, thank YOU for all you've done. For inspiring me, for changing my life, for bringing me together with some of the best friends I have. For being yourselves and staying grounded, for loving your fans and doing everything you can to please them. For being you."
My best friend Ally who became a fan a little after I did reunited with the boys today. They saw her and two of my other good friends and greeted them with hugs. MJ recognized them and commented, "There's perks of being around for a while". I am so happy for the day she had and so happy that this happened to her. For being a fan almost as long as I have, she deserved a reward.
I can't help but read the comment that MJ made repeatedly. "There's perks of being around for a while". My best friend experienced one of hers, will I get to experience mine?
As of now, I'm not so sure if my heart is shattering, or just wishing really, really hard.
Until next time..
No xo's.
No heart.
